OUR GENEALOGY
This particular Boggs line began with William Bascomb Lee Boggs (Bass). His mother was a Loudermilk (Alifair / Allafair / Alfair). These were different spellings found in the different census records. Her mother was also a Loudermilk by birth (Judith/Judy Caroline).
Caroline Loudermilk had 4 children out of wedlock and gave them the last name of Loudermilk. Later on, she married Joseph "Joe" Boggs. After she married him, she changed the 4 childrens' last names to Boggs (Jasper, William, Alifair and Florence).
Alifair had Bass out of wedlock and gave him the name of Boggs. This is where our actual name of Boggs began. We really are not blood related to anyone by the name of Boggs.
Alifair's sister had told a member of the family that Bass's real father was a man by the name of William Lee Brock from around Murphy, NC, Cherokee County. Bass was born in Cherokee County in the Notla District of Culberson. The story that was told is that William Brock was traveling around the countryside, as politicians did back then, campaigning for office. Possibly the office of Sheriff. He came upon Alifair's family's house where he evidently met her. She was supposed to be very pretty. I guess he thought she was, too, and I'm sure she was flattered by his attention as most families didn't really get to go much of anywhere or be around many people very often. I'm sure to her it must have been like the President paying attention to her. She ended "with child". Then Bass was born and that's how all of us came to be after that!

George Washington Loudermilk, Sr. was a native of Virginia. He was circa 1775-1780 of American Nation. He and his first wife had 8 children from 1801 to 1818. It is assumed that his first wife died between 1818 and 1826 because George married again on June 11, 1826 in Knox County, TN to Mary "Polly" McNutt. A copy of the marriage license was located in the library at Knoxville, Tennessee. An article was published in th a newspaper called "Whig National Banner" ,in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 24, 1826, announcing this marriage. To this marriage were born 10 children. He had a total of 18 children.

WILSON GENEALOGY BEGINS HERE:
This is Bess Wilson Boggs' line
This line of our Wilson's migrated to the states from England in the early 1600's. The first of this line of ancestors to come over was
John Willson. He spelled it with two L's. Later on in our lines one of the L's was dropped. It was common for people to change
spellings of their names back then. I've been searching our line since 1990 and have looked through many, many census records
and other records to find this information. John Willson / Wilson was such a common name back then in England, so it's almost
impossible to trace back any further than I have. If any of you see any mistakes in your family names or dates, PLEASE email
me and let me know or if you have any names / dates to add, send those, too.
The first of our Wilsons to come to this area was Johnson Wilson who migrated from Johnson/Carter County, TN to Polk County, TN to Fannin County, GA.
Bess Wilson's direct line is highlighted in yellow.
Here is a quick overview of that line with the migration pattern and who they married. These are our Grandparents!

MARRIED: Lucinda "Cindy" Fox abt. 1885. Cindy was born Dec. 1866 and died in 1902 from Tuberculosis.
NOTE: This "Fox line" is where the Cherokee Indian came in. Cindy's father (his name unknown) was
supposed to have been a full-blooded Cherokee. Cindy was raised by her grandmother,
Nancy / Nancey Fox, born 1813 or 1814. According to the 1880 census of Fannin County, GA,
Nancy Fox was 66 yearsold, a widow and a farmer. She was head of the household
and was originally from NC.
In her household at that time were: Rebecca C. Fox - daughter, 22 yrs. old, born in GA
Lucinda Fox - gr. daughter, 14 yrs. old, born in GA
Hamilton Fox - gr. son, 5 yrs. old, born in GA
William D. Fox - gr. son, 3 yrs. old, born in GA
Martha J. Fox - gr. daughter, 1 yr. old, born in GA
Lucinda's "Cindy" mother supposedly died either giving birth to Cindy or when Cindy
was just a baby.
Nancy Fox (grandmother) was possibly married to George W. Fox, found in the 1870 census
of Gilmer County, GA. If this is the correct Nancy, her maiden name was Mathis and she was from
Macon County, NC.
Listed in the 1870 Gilmer County, GA census: George W. Fox - age 61
Nancy Fox - age 53 (this age would match her birth year)
Nancy Fox - age 21
Heny Fox - age 18
Manda Fox - age 16
Rebecca Fox - age 14
Emily Fox - age 12
Isaac Fox - age 9
Lucinda Fox - age 3
**************************************************************************
NOTE: It's very possible that Nancy Fox (age 21) OR Manda Fox could be Lucinda's mother, but don't know. Could Heny Fox be
her father? Also.....sometimes census takers mispelled names, so Heny could possibly have been Henry. Might be another clue?
